Contributing to Society by Leveraging the Vitality of Civic Organizations
There is a limit to how much we can do to directly address the key issues of our social contribution activities. Therefore, we will promote five activities by supporting citizen’s activities through grant programs and other means, and will also contribute to the development of citizen’s organizations. The grant system is intended to be a “network-based” system that is rooted in each region.

Sumitomo Riko “Dream, Town, and People Development Grant” - SDGs Community Development Support Program
Under the theme of "creating towns where everyone wants to live," and aligned with five priority areas for social contribution, Sumitomo Riko operates a grant program called "Dream, Town, and Community Building Grant: SDGs Community Development Support Program." This program provides funding to organizations engaged in civic activities that contribute to achieving the SDGs.
This program comprises two categories—the "Dream-Building Start Category" (covering four projects), which supports new or small-scale initiatives, and the "Community and People-Building Category" (covering two projects), which supports large-scale initiatives or those with a high degree of public benefit—and provides grants to the selected projects. Applications are evaluated by a selection committee consisting of experts, NPO representatives, and Sumitomo Riko representatives.
Launched in 2010 in Komaki City—home to our Head Office and Plants—in collaboration with the NPO Komaki Civic Activity Network, this program expanded its target area in 2014 under the name "Yume-Machi-Hitozukuri Grant in Kita-Owari." Since 2020, we have been supporting civic activities across five cities and two towns in the Kita-Owari region (Komaki, Kasugai, Iwakura, Konan, and Inuyama cities, and Oguchi and Fuso towns) in partnership with the NPO Machi-Net Oguchi.
In 2012, we partnered with the NPO "M-Bridge" in Matsusaka City to launch the program, targeting four municipalities surrounding our Matsusaka Plant: Matsusaka City, Meiwa Town, Taki Town, and Odai Town. Furthermore, in September 2016, we began providing grants to civic groups based in Ayabe City through a partnership with the Ayabe Volunteer Center. Then, starting in fiscal year 2017, we launched a grant program in collaboration with the general incorporated association Machiterrace Seisakusho, targeting the eastern Shizuoka region (Susono City, Gotemba City, and Nagaizumi Town) surrounding the Fuji-Susono Plant. In fiscal year 2024, we initiated a new grant program in Ageo City—the area surrounding our Saitama Plant—thereby expanding the total number of eligible regions to five.
Although this project in the Fuji-Susono area concluded with the closure of the manufacturing plant in fiscal year 2025, we carried out nine rounds of grant programs (totaling 37 projects) and supported a wide range of initiatives undertaken by the local community.
To date, a total of 246 organizations have received grants for their projects. We plan to continue rolling out this program in regions where the Sumitomo Riko Group has production bases and to further expand the scope of our support.
The Company will make announcements regarding the call for grant applications or by our partner organizations.

Sponsorship of a project promoting collaboration between NPOs and companies through the power of young people
Sumitomo Riko sponsors the "Project to Promote Collaboration between NPOs and Companies through the Power of Youth," an initiative organized by Aichi Prefecture.
This initiative aims to expand the scope of NPO activities by enabling NPOs to submit proposals for collaboration with companies—proposals that incorporate the perspectives of young people (university students). Furthermore, by fostering partnerships with companies and other organizations committed to the SDGs and cultivating the next generation of leaders, the initiative seeks to build a society where diverse stakeholders support community activities.
As a sponsoring company, we showcase our own initiatives, participate in panel discussions with university students, and select outstanding proposals through voting in the "NPO-Corporate Collaboration Awards," subsequently awarding donations based on the results. Through these efforts, we support the growth of NPOs while actively contributing to human resource development for a sustainable society.
